A COMBINATORIAL function is an immediate
link between input and output variables
where the previous
input variables are irrelevant .
If on the other hand, previous variables are relevant, the function is SEQUENTIAL.
In sequential systems the previous inputs
affect the current system status.
Therefore, the sequential system
has a memory and the system status is the initial
condition of the system evolution.
